Ailish Gaughan from Claddagh Gaels
We are excited to announce Ailish Gaughan will be joining our coaching and development team in time for the new year. Ailish brings with her a wealth of experience from coaching and administrating both voluntary and professionally, and we are sure she will be an excellent addition to our county. Find out a little bit more about Ailish below:
Gaelic Football is a huge part of my life and takes up nearly every day of my week. I joined Claddagh Gaels in 2013 as a senior player, after playing with St. Dympnas in Luton for almost two years. In 2015, along with 4 other Claddaghs and Stephen Lavery the youth set up was established at Claddaghs Gaels LGFC. 5 years later, we have gone from 12 girls to nearly 50 and I could not be prouder of the continued development and growth of our underage teams. I have completed a foundation coaching course, a foundation reffing course, My DBS, and a safeguarding & child protection course as part of my personal development within this sector.
Aside from playing and coaching, another part of my Claddagh life is on the Committee. I have been on the committee since 2016, holding roles of PRO and my current role of Club Secretary, which I have filled for the past 2 seasons.
Along with Gaelic football, (soccer) is also a big love of mine. I have worked for Luton Town Football Club for 4 years, with one of those years working full time in the Commercial Department. My time here has been filled with so many amazing memories; footballing legends dinners and a golf day, meeting Robbie Keane (twice) and of course, back to back promotions! I am currently in my second year of studying Stadium and Events Management at UCFB Wembley. Studying inside Wembley stadium is a constant motivator to see what you can achieve if you put your mind to something.
I’m really looking forward to working with Hertfordshire GAA and spreading knowledge of Gaelic football throughout the younger generation in the county.
