Kevin Niblock re-joins panel for 2014.
The Antrim football squad has been boosted by the return of Kevin Niblock, who has decided to re-join the panel having not been involved so far in 2014.
The St. Gall's man has been one of the Saffrons' most important forwards for the best part of a decade, so when it was announced in December that he had committed to a one-year contract with Belfast-based soccer club Cliftonville, it was a considerable blow to the rebuilding ambitions of Antrim manager Liam Bradley.
However, Niblock hasn't made the first XI at Solitude so far, and he has now committed to both the Antrim panel and Cliftonville for the foreseeable future. He will train one night a week with Antrim and another night with Cliftonville.
Niblock's return will be welcomed by Bradley, as the Saffrons have made a very disappointing start to their Division IV campaign.
After being relegated from Division III in 2013, the return of 'Baker' Bradley led to optimism within the county that Antrim could forge a swift return to the third tier this season. However, they opened up with a five-point defeat to Leitrim in Round 1, and on Sunday, suffered a home defeat to Wicklow in Ahoghill.
Niblock, an All-Ireland club winner with St. Gall's in 2010, may be in contention to feature in Antrim's next league game, against Waterford in Creggan on March 2.
