A few of the many happy faces at our schools event
Hertfordshire GAA proudly hosted the biggest schools Gaelic Football tournament ever held in Britain on the 24th of May. Tabard Rugby club in Radlett was the venue and we would like to thank them for the use of their excellent facilities. 34 Year 4/5 school teams traveled from 5 surrounding counties, with 544 awesome children participating in 77 games. There with 8 pitches on the go with 9 separate finals/grades, meaning children from all abilities were catered for. Recent developments have been made in new schools from new areas in Bedford, Stevenage and Milton Keynes and these will pave the way for potential new start up clubs in those areas.
Full list of all results can be found at the bottom of this page.
Mr Wood from Robert Peel Primary said of the event, "Thanks for today. The standard of officiating was brilliant and just one part of a fantastically well run tournament. Our kids had a blast and we are keen to come back for more."
Martin Reynolds from ECS Groundwork Ltd kindly sponsored the day and came along to support and see the children in action. Speaking at the event, Martin was delighted to be on board again, "This is my second year sponsoring the event. Obviously it's a big success and it's continuing to be, so I am very happy to be on board again."
We would like to express our gratitude to our horde of volunteers made up from across all our clubs, the county board and the Provincial Council, which ensured an enormous team effort and the smooth running of the day. Also, many thanks to all our schools and teachers for their continued support.
We look forward to seeing lots of our Primary Schools at the All Britain Competition (ABC's) on the 11th of July. If you would like any information on our schools coaching programme, or our clubs, contact - cda.hertfordshire@gaa.ie
