Short Club Synopsis:
Established in 1959, the Oxford branch of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), Éire Óg, celebrates nearly 60 years of playing and promoting Gaelic games in Oxford.
Éire Óg’s formation in Oxford has helped the Irish people who have come to live in this beautiful city settle amongst friends old and new, by retaining an important aspect of their Irish heritage. The club has also introduced the game to new players from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
The Éire Óg Senior Mens Team play Football under the umbrella of the Hertfordshire GAA county. Although titled Hertfordshire GAA, it in fact encompasses Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire and Oxfordshire.
The Éire Óg Ladies Team was founded in 2012 and in 2015 helped to establish the Ladies Glo-Herts (Gloucestershire/Hertfordshire) GAA county. This county encompasses teams from Bristol, Cardiff, St. Albans and Luton.
The Éire Óg youth football team is a historically important part of the club and coaching was revived in 2015.
Éire Óg hurlers play as part of St. Declans Hurling team, Hertfordshire. This side is made up of players from through-out Hertfordshire.
