New Plans Ensure GAA Will Have A Home In Waltham Cross
Following attempts by Enfield Council in the summer to claim a section of St Joseph’s GAA pitch, the club would like to provide the following update as the year draws to a close:
‘It’s been an interesting few months over at St Josephs in Waltham Cross....
In the summer, Enfield council announced it would be taking approximately 20% of Bullsmoor Lane playing fields to construct a multi-use playing area (MUGA) for the adjacent new primary school. The proposed plans for the remaining remodelled playing fields initially showed a number of small soccer pitches (but no full sized ones) and, more importantly for St Josephs, no gaelic pitch!
With the help of local labour councillor Vicki Pite, along with St Ignatus Old Boys Club, meetings with the councils planning department were held and new plans were drawn up.
These not only include two full sized soccer pitches but a 80x130m gaelic games pitch at the southern end of the field.
And as a goodwill gesture, Enfield council will be providing new posts for soccer and gaelic games so, all going well, the playing fields will be back in use in the New year.'
All at Hertfordshire GAA look forward to maximising the potential of the new plans in 2018.
