Herts U-14's represent their county with pride
Last Thursday saw a passionate Hertfordshire U-14’s depart for Munster to represent their County with pride at Feile 2016.
A 23 man squad represented Herts in the annual GAA event; spread across parts of Cork, Kerry and West Limerick.
The action all started on Friday morning and saw the U-14’s off to an impressive start in the quest for the Division 8 Cup, defeating Armaghs’ Tullysaran by 4 points. This win was closely followed by a nerve-racking but hotly contested battle with Cork’s Donoughmore, ending with both teams at 1-07 a piece. An impressive first day for the lads in green and gold.
A further push on Saturday meant the defeat of host club White Cross and concluded with Herts youngsters seeing off American representatives Boston in the following quarter - final.
An outstanding performance to this point meant the youngsters took part in the annual Feile gathering in Kanturk that evening enthusiastically, and in the company of other clubs from across Ireland, America and the UK.
Sunday morning saw Herts come agonisingly close, finishing up within a point of a final in another tooth and nail clash versus Keel/Listry in Gneeveguilla.
The U-14’s returned from Feile in good spirits and with gratitude to their Cork based host club White Cross. A sterling effort from all involved and next year’s action to look forward to already.
