Ministers Seal of Approval
The promotion of Gaelic Games continues to grow. Recently Hertfordshire GAA hosted Ulster GAA tutors Owen Mooney and Ryan McShane who facilitated an Award One Child Coaching Course in Luton as part of the twinning programme between Ulster GAA & Hertfordshire GAA. Stephen Lavery, who is the Community Development Administrator for Hertfordshire GAA, was able to have 12 participants on the course. Several of the coaches who attended had to travel over 3 hours to attend.
The course is held over 2 weekends with the first weekend having been completed over 9th/10/11th of October. The course is designed increase the knowledge, understanding and coaching skills of the participants through theory and practical adult learning methods. Both Owen and Ryan were extremely impressed by the quality of the coaches who attended. The way they interacted with the tutors and also with each other enabled them to have a more positive experience and it also increased their confidence throughout the weekend.
During the course there were some special visitors. The Irish Sports Minister Michael Ring TD stopped by to wish the coaches all the best on the course. IrishTVLondon also were also there to interview Stephen Lavery and Owen Mooney on the impact of the course and how this can improve the links with Ulster GAA and Hertfordshire GAA as a whole. They also videoed several people who were taking part in their Role Play task. So keep an eye out for the programme which will air on the show "County Matters" over the next few weeks.
The second weekend will take place on 11th/12th/13th of November
Hertfordshire GAA would like to thank the coaches Owen Mooney and Ryan McShane for their tutoring of the course. A very successful weekend with more to come.
